Key Achievements

  • National multi-stakeholders mobilization where decision was taken by over 45 actors to firm up platform for information sharing and leaning in climate change agriculture and food security.

 

  • National Platform established with a defined governance structure (Secretariat, Core Team and Platform members) and was launched in the presence of three Ministers of State in July 2013.

 

  • Conducted reconnaissance field visit to An Aquaponic Farm in the Central Region of Ghana to examine some Climate Smart Agriculture Technologies and Practices.

 

  • Organized a seminar for high level policy and decision makers (Ministers, Chief Directors and Directors) and Legislators (Parliamentarians) on “Climate Change and Variability – The need for integrating adaptation actions into sectoral plans and budgets”.

 

  • Conducted Reconnaissance field visit to CCAFS sites in Upper West Region of Ghana.

 

  • Participated in the celebration of ‘Kobine Festival 2014’ of the people of Lawra Traditional Areal on the theme “Climate Change and Agriculture”. The Platform made presentation to sensitise the community on “Climate Smart Agriculture”.

 

  • Organized Climate Smart Agriculture and Technologies/Practices Profiling workshop in the Guinea Savannah Agro-Ecological Zone of Ghana.

 

  • Organized Climate Smart Agriculture and Technologies/Practices Profiling workshop in the Forest agro-ecological zone of Ghana.

 

  • Initiated and established Three Sub-National Level Climate Change Science-Policy Platforms in the Lawra, Jirapa and Nandom Districts in the Upper West Region of Ghana.

 

  • Organized workshop on “Utilization of Knowledge Products from CCAFS Studies in Ghana”

 

  • Organized Climate Smart Agriculture and Technologies/Practices Profiling workshop in the Guinea Savannah Agro-Ecological Zone of Ghana.
